Στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Νέα Γενιά σε Δράση που υλοποιείται στην Ελλάδα από το Ίδρυμα Νεολαίας και Δια Βίου Μάθησης, το Δίκτυο για τα Δικαιώματα του Παιδιού με μια ομάδα νέων αγοριών και κοριτσιών υλοποιεί τη δράση «Mind the Eurogap!». Η δράση αυτή είχε ως στόχο την ενίσχυση της ενεργούς συμμετοχής και της ευαισθητοποίησης των νέων που ζουν σε μια από τις πιο υποβαθμισμένες περιοχές στο κέντρο της Αθήνας πάνω στα ευρωπαϊκά ζητήματα και πολιτικές ενόψει των Ευρωεκλογών της άνοιξης τους 2014 ώστε να γεφυρωθεί το χάσμα που υπάρχει μεταξύ αυτών και των «Βρυξελλών». Συγκεκριμένα η δράση «Mind the Eurogap!» προβλέπει την διεξαγωγή συζητήσεων και ανταλλαγής απόψεων μεταξύ των νέων της περιοχής του σταθμού Λαρίσης για τις προσδοκίες, τις απογοητεύσεις και τις επιπτώσεις των ευρωπαϊκών πολιτικών στην καθημερινή ζωή τους. Οι απόψεις και σκέψεις τους θα αποτυπωθούν σε ένα βίντεο το οποίο υπό την μορφή μηνύματος θα διακινηθεί σε Ευρωπαίους και Έλληνες πολιτικούς, δημοσιογράφους, ΜΚΟ και τα σχολεία της περιοχής.
The project "Mind the euro-gap!" aims at increasing active participation and awareness in European affairs of young people living in one of the most deprived area of the centre of Athens in view of 2014 European Parliament elections in order to bridge the gap between them and “Brussels". To achieve this, a group of young people with the support of the NGO "Network for Children's Rights” will meet, discuss and interview young people from the deprived area of Larisa Central Railway Station (centre of Athens) about their expectations from EU and shoot a short video which will be sent to the members of the European and the Hellenic Parliament, to Greek and European NGOs, to the schools of the area and diffused via the web. The process will take the character of a campaign aiming at promoting young people's European citizenship and their active participation in democratic life. The originality of the project lies in the fact that the campaign will not be a classic one involving the education of young people about the EU policies and priorities but will be a "reverse" one aiming at "educating" MEPs, greek MPs and other EU officials in young people's priorities and their everyday needs so they can include these topics in the agenda of the European elections.
